The BG Language Creation Guide

Felese {y} and {i}

{y} and {i} are allophones of the same phoneme; they are in complementary distribution. {y} occurs between a consonant and a vowel (that is C y V) and {i} occurs elsewhere.

Note that the distribution of allophones in this language means that the widely cited form {miao} is a mis-pronunciation of * {myao}. The difference is slight, but any cat can tell.

Felese
{f'} denotes an ejective consonant: that is, one made longer and with more energy than a standard consonant.
